Hey Guys,

So i built my new pc a few months ago consisting of an intel i7 4790k as well as a Gtx 980 ti reference card and i feel like i have never gotten the performance i quite expected. I am currently using a 2560x1080 LG ultrawide monitor but in games like AC Syndicate i am getting around 55fps on high with drops as low as 32.... pretty bad for an $800 graphics card. This is not the only game i have had trouble with. Gta 5 also gave me quite the hard time when i first got it because, like i said, i was expecting to be able to run it on ultra. Fallout 4 runs at 60fps on high. Every benchmark test i find just totally destroys the benchmarks i get and i was wondering if you guys had any advice. Thanks!

Why did you pay 800 for a reference 980ti?

And then I get 100 FPS+ in most games...

Ya man but not for most people with this card. Like im not getting even close to what i should be. I saw avg frames for AC was 70 on ultra and i get 55 on high

How is your disk usage during this time? Also, any temperature issues.

GTA V online runs fine for me 99% GPU Usage never dips below 40 FPS @ 1080p high settings. I know AC Syndicate doesn't run so well from the benchmarks I saw on release date not sure what's the current state now...

GTA V online runs quite a bit worse than singleplayer. Also, FPS is never stable for me and my friends.

The benchmarks you are comparing against are most likely for 1920x1080 screens. Your ultrawide is pushing about 30% more pixels than a standard 1080p panel so don't expect to get the same numbers.

I did used to have the random stutters on Day 1 release then it disappeared after a couple of update, still strange some people have performance issues with it.

Dude, just bare in mind the reference gtx 980 ti isn't amazingly high clocked, the non reference cards are clocked alot higher by default.

Although you can look into overclocking, the reference 980 ti is only 1200Mhz at 1.2 volts whereas the non reference cards are like 1400Mhz at 1.2, so there's plenty of OC headroom.

You could probably put +100mhz in MSi afterburner without too much trouble.

Anyway, AC is probably poorly optimised. And GTA 5 is really tough to run with the extended shadows and detail distance or whatever they are.

Firestrike score of 14193. Does that sound about right for a 2560x1080 monitor?

Mine is 2560x1440. My Card is faster than the Reference Design, but 14k sounds too low. Clean your Drivers and reinstall them.

Syndicate is actually pretty damn good on my end. I'm not understanding why people are saying its unoptimized. I've spent about 6 hours into the game and it's one of the better optimized titles I've played in a bit.

If people are basing it off Unity and say Syndicate is unoptimized without having actually playing the game (not saying you in particular... if you have of course), then said people have no room to talk. Syndicate is a fine port that Ubisoft deserves a lot of credit for.

ETA: look on Steam. 85% positive out of 572 reviews. Steam is usually pretty fucking brutal (when things aren't right) in their reviews and a majority of people are beyond satisfied.

Alright guys so bit of an update, did a clean install on all drivers and seem to not get as many frame drops in AC as i did before. With geforce optimized settings i get 50-80 and with Anti Alliasing on i get around 45-60. Still feel like i am not getting amazing performance due to the fact that this card is apparently capable of 4k gaming. But it does seem to be a bit better since the clean installation.

Don't use GeForce Experience to optimize your games. It's horrible. That's why your games run like shit. Manually tinker with the settings yourself.
