Any brand on that page is fine except chieftec and LC-power. Find an 800w one that you like the look of. If you need someone to explain 80+ ratings, and why gold is more expencive, give me a shout.

Go to jonnyguru.com for reviews on power supplies; if they have a review covering the model you want, it will be thorough and informative.

If you don't like the detail, skip to the last page for the scores.  I've never been steered wrong by their recommendations.

Chieftec PSU's can be very reliable since a good percentage of them are built by Delta (the guys who used to build some older corsair PSU's)

Chieftec GPS-A series 500w PSU's are really popular here in Croatia and I don't know a person whose unit has died.

I had never heard of them and now somebody is singing their praises. I must be one of the lucky 10,000.

I will take that as a compliment

BTW. just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they are utter crap, that's the worst logic of a LTT member i've ever seen

I was referring to https://xkcd.com/1053/ and that is good rule for ruling out crappy products, because if no one used them so no one has heear of them, why should I recommend them?

I've never heard of FinalMouse, that must mean it's crap, right? OFCOURSE YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF THEM, it's a PSU that's targeting the European audience, now I don't know if you are from Europe, but this being a Canadian/American (considering it's creators ofc) forum, ofcourse you've never heard of it on THIS forum didn't you.

Since you're so naive, let me give you an insight.

The PSU I'll be talking about right now is the Chieftec GPS-500AB-A, a PSU which my friend uses to power his i3 and R9 270X

As I've said, it's mostly Delta inside, if you don't know who Delta are, or what do they do, google is your friend mate

It has an average fan from Yate Loon, nothing special.

BUT

It has Samxon caps on the primary which is much better than the cx corsair series PSU's which are regarded as Gods in their price range, it has sufficent heatsinks inside to keep the PSU cool even though the PSU CAN GET SLIGHTLY AUDIBLE, but it still doesn't change the fact that the PSU has 80 percent efficiency on most loads.

Now please, return to what you are doing since you have no reason to continue this argument, ty.

my friend I'm with you, but concerning psus in my little experience the most important thing is the capacitors. if they're japan made they are the best, and also the certificate, like 80+bronze, 80+gold etc.

have you checked this?

edit. chieftec psus are very decent and reliable

As I've said it uses Samxon caps as a person on a Polish forum did a breakdown. Now Samxon caps aren't really known as the best, actually, they're Korean and would be considered lower end but they're definietly better than what cx series Corsair psu's are using. BTW, not many European PSU's get a 80 Plus rating just because they're European (people who test the PSU's test mostly PSU's that are sold in America, that's their shitty standard, and that use different plugs; europe uses different outlets... so thats one of the reasons too)

EDIT 1: Ofcourse, some manufacturers like Corsair make EU versions of their PSU's with the correct plugs for European outlets and those European versions of the PSU's have 80 plus rating because the American version was already tested and therefore there's no reason for a seperate 80+ rating for the European version of the PSU

Hope it clears things up

-snip-

I am not american/canadian thank you very much. I am European. And I have been on this forum for long enough to know what brands of things most people buy. I know who delta are and I have a Delta PSU in my computer.
