Hi guys

I want to know if my current psu will be sufficient enough for the new setup. PSU: thermaltake tt-450nl1nh-1 (couldn't find it listed on pcpartpicker).

I don't know why people are having issues with this particular psu when I have been using it with my current setup for about 4 years

I'm also planning on purchasing a gtx 750ti and running dual monitor in the near future.

My current setup:

CPU Intel Core i7-870 2.93Ghz Quad-Core Processor -

Motherboard Asus P7H55-M LX Micro ATX LGA1156 Motherboard -

Storage Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive -

Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTS 450 1GB Video Card

My new setup:

CPU Intel Core i3-4170 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor

Motherboard MSI H97M-G43 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Storage Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTS 450 1GB Video Card -

Why no GPU upgrade?

because some people cant afford upgrading all at once.

on topic: off the top of my head your new system seems lower wattage, but i'm gonna suggest looking into a seasonic (or other quality brand) power supply.

i usually just say seasonic because you cant go wrong with a seasonic unit.

I'm on a budget, so won't be able to purchase the gtx 750 for awhile.

Don you think I should upgrade, I mean its been working great since.

It should be fine until you next upgrade but when you do also grab yourself a new PSU maybe c:

Alright, I'll have a look. How many watts should I be looking at ? (I'll be upgrading to a gtx 750ti soon)

well, i generally say this:

- build your "worst case scenario" on pcpartpicker (the most wattage you'll possibly require of your power supply during its life cycle)

- add 20% on top of the calculated wattage

- add some extra margin if you dont like maxing out a PSU (lots of reasons for this, as a budget user you probably dont care, and can skip over this just fine)

- round up to the nearest available quality power supply of your choice. (for ex: if you end up at 607 watts, go for the 620 watt seasonic psu)

Sell your old system to get enough for a good PSU.
