Skylake was supposed to be "mind-blowing" compared to previous generations according to media and Intel a little over a year ago. I believe that Intel was going to release something much better but seeing that AMD was/is not putting out anything new and competitive on the market they didn't see a need to put out there latest and greatest technology. Skylake does have better performance than hasewell but nothing compared to what was expected over a year ago. Using these methods Intel knows people will buy skylake even if performance is just slightly better because it is "the latest and greatest"

Just my opinion but it is very likely that Intel is holding back newer technologies till competition from AMD, for example, takes hold.

A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

For gaming the 6700k is the best CPU you can buy, anyone who says otherwise is lying to you and themselves. That said you better have one hell of a monitor and GPU to need it, or you're just wasting money. If you have a 1080p monitor, go with a 4690k or 6600k is you want Skylake.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
