My macbook pro just started making a sizzling noise like frying eggs on a pan. Temps werent really that high oddly enough. I turned if off immediately as i was concerned it could be a battery or capacitor doing something it isnt supposed to? Im on my phone typing this now. Think its fine or is it a problem?

Take it to an Apple Store so a Genius can Google the problem, find nothing and come out from the back room saying that your non-Apple USB keyboard is the issue. (Just kidding, but that actually did happen to a guy once.)

Seriously though, take it to an Apple Store for it to get looked at.

That sounds like a lose connection somewhere. I've had it a couple of times in my HP Pavilion DV6 and its due to the connector that attaches the power socket to the motherboard being damaged. And I know it was that connector as it was blackened from the sparking.

Welp... Best not to turn it on then fo avoid further damage right?

Edit: ive never held the apple store employees in high esteem. Im pretty handy with tools ect and comouters ect, think i should try to open it up and do surgery?

Correct. It does sound like a battery problem. I'd say 'take the battery out and just run the machine off of AC power', but new MacBook Pros don't have removable batteries, so... just another reason for me not to like MacBooks, I guess. :/

Luckily its old and kinda shitty. :D slid right out. Trying to run it now.

Edit: still sizzling. I dont tnink the noise is from the battery. Its a bit fainter now.

In that case, you should definitely take it in to get serviced.

So i just did a bit of "surgery" to find the problem because, well, servicing is expensive. The sounds coming from the last part you would expect. The hard drive! So i guess i know what im doing this weekend. Moving data over to my pc before the shit hits the fan.
