Windows 10 stating 'Not enough Memory

So my pc is about a few months old and I'm hitting myself now that i didn't run proper stress tests when i first powered it up. I think its whenever my pc's memory is under too much load that it just freezes to a black screen although the pc is still running. This has happened on a few occasions but i cant remember how many. Its happened from a range of games from fallout 4 to dota 2. 

 

When i upgraded to Win10 though i got the error message while playing fallout 4 that I should shut down the program to reduce memory loss. While this is on do consider I have a few applications running, usually about 3-6 windows in chrome , spotify , skype , steam etc. 

 

Could I get some suggestions on what to do?

Been playing on a laptop for 6 years, I play Dota 2 with 10fps. Some might say this is impossible, I say its just annoying

How much ram?  HDD Size?

8GB DDR3 1866 Hyper X Fury Ram

1TB Seagate Barracaude 

1TB Seagate External HDD

Been playing on a laptop for 6 years, I play Dota 2 with 10fps. Some might say this is impossible, I say its just annoying

did you try it without your chrome etc running? ( chrome is a ram monster... eats so much )

pagefilesys enabled? (in case your ram really gets 100% load it could put some data from ram onto your hdd [it slows down while processing the data from hdd then])

Check to see if the system (in task manager) has a lot or memory allocated to it

go into system settings and see how much ram is "usable" by the PC.
