Portal Freezing? Please Help!

Midway through a level Portal just freezes, same with the music, it just repeats it self for a few seconds with a frozen screen and eventually it will unfreeze, but I dont know whats causing this. My specs are in my sig, Please help!

Any other games doing this? If not, reinstall DX9c (or whatever latest version is).

I worry about the credibility of your posts because none of this ever happened to me.

I doubt it has anything to do with your rig. Portal 1 will run just fine even on a dual core.

 

Corrupt installation perhaps? If you have it through steam, just delete local data and re-download it. If you have it through less legit means (yarr), then I wouldn't be surprised if you got a botched rip.

I purchased both portal 1 and 2 for 6.29 on a steam sale

Go in steam and right click on the game title. Go in local data somewhere and there will be a button called "verify integrity of the game data" or something along those lines. Click on that. Steam will auto detect if there is a file missing, or something got installed wrong. If it completes without any problems at the end, then its just the way the game is. I just played through it a few days ago, but the only time it freezes is at the end of a level when it transitions into a loading screen.

Yeah, mine does it mid level.

Is it one of the last levels (18 or 19) just before (or after cant remeber) you jump on a moving platform?

Yeah, it happened on 18, and a couple levels before that.
