Is it silent and good for gaming?Im definitely looking for under 4-3 grand

Well - at idle/light work it's silent.

Gaming - the fans ramp up but you will have the fantastic JBL speakers blowing you away with quality sound so you won't notice

The specs are essentially a i7 4720HQ(Y50)/6700HQ(Y700) which is about the same as a i5 4690 and the GPUs are the 860M/960M - both rebranded 750 Tis

It's a good gaming machine in my opinion - the highest temp I reached so far is 75*C CPU and 68*C GPU

in comparison to the EON15-X how does it fare?

Als regarding the fans, do you think I could rat that out with the rode nt usb microphone?

Just configured it to my spec as above and it came out at $2634 so well within your budget, I say go for it, could even add a custom paint job and still have money spare...

Absolutely not.  Buy a car instead and a significantly less costly laptop for "youtubing".  That is a gaming laptop.  Not a school laptop.  You might want to consider being more honest with yourself.  No offense of course, I did the same thing and regretted it.

Probably - using headphones = no fan noise can be heard.

The fans are actually high quality ones from Sunon so you can expect decent acoustics

Pretty much - Y50 is around 850-900$ - use the rest of the money on a car or hookers

Thanks for your help, can I just ask if ur Referring to the eon laptop or the Lenovo?

Still though - the Y50 can run any current game and costs 1/3 of the other machine - that means 1500$ left for hookers :D

What fps would I be expecting from the Lenovo? (I mean... I need dem hookers)

What game? I get around 200 fps average in CS:GO with default settings from Volvo, Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Editions nets me 55 fps at near max settings. L4D2 is also 98% of the time running at 60fps on high settings

I did actually.  Want do you suppose the battery life is on a 4k gaming laptop?  Think it'll carry you through the day?  Or even half of it?

Thing with 4K is it's unplayable with laptop GPUs or even most desktop GPUs - as for battery - I get about 3 hours worth of movies and light browsing at the same time with increased brightness

I amended my post after your editing, I do apologise, although the battery life wouldn't matter much at school since I'd have the brightness down and we wouldn't use it for the whole day

4K has 4 times the pixels of 1080p though meaning 4x the power draw

I guess that'd do, may I just ask one more question (thx for ur help so far btw) would the eon reach better fps then this? Idc too much if it's a bit over costly, I just want a Laptop that's really good.

At 1080p a superior GPU would achieve better fps, yes. At 4k, good luck even getting 30fps with laptop hardware. It's simply not possible. Even a 980M can't do 4K 30fps properly without dips into the 10s.

As for the Y50 or Y700 - make sure you get the non-touch model - the touch model had some issues with weight on the hinge.
