Razer BlackShark Macbook Pro

A friend of mine recently bought a Razer BlackShark headset, but the 3,5 Mic/audio combo port on his Macbook Pro doesn't seem to pick up the mic, any suggestions?

 

He uses both Windows 7 and OSX btw, none of them picked up the mic.

According to Razers website it should be compatible, meaning that it uses the TRRS layout.

Does he use the 4 pin connector?

Which Macbook model does he have? (year)

Trow that mackbook out of door, that might help.

Seriously, if there is some audio setting in settings, try to find it from there.

Not mine, and he bought it for the build quality (his words)

It's the 2012 version, and yes, he does use the 4-pole connector.
