Hello Guys.

 

I have a question.

What would happen if i plug my new 980 TI to a motherboard that only supports PCIe 2.0?

It will have half of the bandwidth, i know. But will it slow down the render performance of my computer?

 

I'll be using my computer mainly to edit video.

Your cpu does the most of the rendering work so no.

And the 2.0 is still fast enough

While gaming you lose at most 3% but rendering is mostly done by the CPU, using v2 will not affect the performance
