As the title says it, I am either going to buy a 950 and get 8gb of some better ram, or I will buy a 960 and use my old ram for a while until I can save up for better ram, need help on the differences

How much ram do you currently have? Also a 950 has cut processors, the same chip but with less processing units, i'm sure someone can come up with a better explanation though

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

960 is just faster than the 950?

btw: the 4 Gb frame buffer doesn't improve FPS in games where you are not using more than 2 Gb :)

Define "better" ram.

Ram is Ram, as long as it's not some no-name brand, all ram is good.

How much ram do you currently have and what brand is it?

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

It really depends on what type of games you are going to play.

If you just play Mobas/Strategy/Visual novel games, you'll have enough with a 950.

If you want to play more graphically demanding games, skip the 960 and go for a r9 380, (more VRAM and more or less the same performance for the price). Personally I dislike the 960, little VRAM and just OK performance.

then just use whatever money you have left to fit your PC with some ram - Id recommend at least 8GB in total (if you ahve 8GB already no need for more, you can buy it later).

As @JebKerman signature says: Aftermarket 980Ti > Reference 980Ti = Fury X > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 > 380 >= 960 > 370 >= 950 > 750Ti = 360 (IMO reference980>furyX, just take care of the thermals)
