Howdy!

So, I have a new computer, and I'm using a wireless USB adapter for Wi-Fi.

Unfortunately, I've noticed that speed of downloads, video quality and buffering, and search results are all very slow.

if anyone can help me figure out how I could speed things up, I'd really appreciate it.

The Wireless adapter is a Panda Wireless 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter.

Drivers are up to date, I even reset the IP Address using the Command Prompt.

How far away from the router/access point are you? What kind of speeds do you get when hardwired to the router? Can you move you PC closer to the router/access point to see how it affects the speed?

about 20 feet away from the access point, in a room next to it. I have not hardwired he computer to the Router. I can not move the computer, due to space issues.

Can you try hard-wiring it to see if it fixes the issue? It's most likely a case of a generally crappy adapter, seeing as WiFi isn't great for desktop PCs most of the time.

Have a look into Powerline, it may be a good middleground between WiFi and hardwire.

I'll try, but it would have to wait a while.

The adapter definitely seems to be slow. It may be competing for a signal with other wireless devices.

The best option would be to hardwire the PC to the router, but it's not always an option. If you cannot do that, then powerline is your next best bet. It won't have the same issues as the WiFi adapter does and it's not that expensive to get a pair of them.

But there's nothing that can be done with the adapter?

Not really. A bad WiFi adapter is a bad WiFi adapter. The only thing you could do is turn off other WiFi devices operating on the same frequency to try to reduce the "competition" between them, but it's hardly a practical solution.

I understand. are there any powerline products you recommend?
