Since Christmas is only 40 days away. I wanted to validate if this would be a good gaming pc. I also have a few questions about pc building and pcs in general.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5 4690k 3.5GHZ

Mobo: Gigabyte G1 Sniper B6

GPU: AMD Radeon R7250X

PSU: EVGA 500B

RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury 1866mhz

HDD: WD Blue 1TB

SSD: Samsung 859 EVO (250GB)

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

Case: Zalman Z9

My questions:

How much will a Anti-Static wrist band really help me? How much damage does static do to pcs?

How can i do good cable management?

How can i keep this computer for a long time? (Basically how to take good care of it.)

Any replys help, thanks!

A 4690K and an R7 250X?! Good CPU, awful GPU. Try to get like a 4460 and an R9 380.

I always use an anti static strap, but if you don't have/want one you could just ground yourself by touching the PSU.

Cable management? Time, and lots of zipties.

Dust it every now and then, replace thermal paste every year or so, and you'll be fine.

I'd say get an i3 4130, H97 board, EVGA GS/XFX TS/Antec High Current Gamer and a R9 380/390 - much better balance

Static can kill any piece of hardware, you dont really need a wristband but if you do you dont have to worry about touching your psu everytime you move your feet and just clean dust and have good cooling.

The r7250x isnt awful, I dont wanna run games maxed out, i sorta just wanna play. The card can run BF4 medium in 60fps, high it does 30's Its enough for me, i might be able to squeeze a gpu into my budget, but it will be very hard.

You would have a better all-around experience by downgrading the CPU to something like an i5-4460 if you can (overclocking ability doesn't make much of a difference in games) and trying to get an R9 380 in there. Hell, even a GTX 950 would be better if you can't step up to the 380.

Also, may I advise using PCPartPicker for compile part lists? It makes it easier to edit part lists, both for you and us.

Then get an i5 4460, H97 board and R9 380 - simple put - you pat a few more $ for double the power

whichever is cheaper - for a locked i5 it makes 0 difference

I would say get a cheaper CPU like a non K version i5 because the GPU will impact the perfomrance most. And it feels great to pass the 60 fps belive me. I played Crysis 3 at 45 fps (competetive....) and well when I got my new system and could push 100fps ish it made a huge impact on gameplay. So I would really try to get a little bit better GPU if its possible.

And a static wrist wrap is a good idea. I've always used one (to build pc, swap parts and also solder arduino shields and similar.) Because well you dont want to kill anything and you can just keep it on your foot ankle and just forgett about it. But if you dont, you will remember killing a expensive peice of hardware.

First of all, horrible GPU.

I'll answer the questions anyway.

- A static wristband will set you back about $5 USD, and you'll be much safer with one.

- For good cable management, try routing everything to the back of the case, if you have no area, tape it to the corners.

- To take good care of it, make sure it's properly cooled and dusted regularly.

- get a better gpu.

Much better, almost perfect. Change that PSU though, it's really low quality, poor primary capacitors and a below-average ambient temperature tolerence.

- Anything from XFX

- Anything from Seasonic

- EVGA G2/GS

- Antec High Current Gamer

would be my picks for a replacement.

Alternatively, go here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/ and pick anything from Tiers 1 or 2.
