Hmm. Not a bad build there, buddy.

For building the rig, don't be too concerned about it. Think of it as adult Lego. You get to put somethng together, but you'll actually be able to make something of it.

Also, be sure to enjoy the process. It should be reasonably simple to do, given how you have a relatively simple set-up of components there.

Get a Fury - beats a OCed 980 and doesn't really require any OCing so less hassle :)

650W is more than enough for any single card - a Fury can run fine on a good 500W PSU without issue even after an OC - power draw is vastly exaggerated

Still iffy.. x-x Not to mention Fury's are seriously hot. Still prefer Nvidia at this price point ;w;

if you call 75*C hot then I guess - the coolers on them are phenomenal and keep the chips cooler than some Nvidia cards even. I mean - the 390 from Sapphire barely goes over 67*C whereas most 970s go over 72*C. It's not the way you believe it is.

980 is about 15-20% slower than a Fury - you need at least 1550MHz on the core to even it out and at that point the 980 is hotter and louder. Tek Syndicate tested it. Feel free to look it up

EDIT: 500W is enough for any single card on the market today.

Will the stock cooler be enough or is buying a cooler the better option? I also plan on getting another video card for a 2 way sli but that will be in the future.

stock is NOT enough for a K chip. SLI is only worth when going 980 Ti or 980 - Fury CF is also superior to 980 Ti SLI based on recent benches.

Stock coolers should be enough. If you are doing crazy OCing, that's what water cooled cards are for.

Buy a 750 Ti then :D - even the 960 with the ACX 2.0 cooler runs at about 62-65*C

Haswell i7s overheat on stock - i5s barely pass.
