Hello Folks!

Can someone tell me what's up with my GPU usage in Fallout 4? http://i.imgur.com/PBsRHnU.png

It spikes up and down from 0 to 100 (...real quick)

Also, why doesn't Fallout make full use of my GPU and CPU? I drop down to like 40 frames but my GPU usage is at 60% maybe 70% and CPU at around 80%.

What is your storage solution? I had a similar issue a year ago that led myself and several others to think I had bad VRMs on my R9 280, turns out it was a faulty HDD that was causing it. The GPU would get data, process it, and then sit there waiting for the HDD to send more data - causing the usage to spike up and down similar to that.

from what I understand Fallout 4 is incredibly CPU intensive. Out of interest are you using an AMD card? Ive seen a comparison review of 4790k vs 6600K, AMD 6 and 8 cores, and AMD card with lower end cpu has massive FPS swing. I think its just a driver issue rather than actual limitations

I have Fallout 4 installed on my SSD, no other game does that.

Yeah, I'm using an R9 290, hmm AMD didn't release a new driver yet, maybe that's the problem?

And CPU isn't at full usage either.

Hmmm... Can't really help you then. Sorry. :(

It's a fairly bad port. I get drops from 60 to the low 40's all the time. Needs a lot of optimization. Don't know if it's the same for Nvidia users, I don't really care. But I know it's a problem with pretty much every AMD user. Even people with a 390x.

Same... 390X here and I get usage stats from 30%-100% when looking at heavily detailed items (forest, distant city) but when I'm in the interior of a structure I'm at 100%.

I think it's just drivers/optimization.

Dual 290Xs here and even after lowering the resolution to 1080p (I normally play at 4K) I still can't keep the frames from dropping. Even tried lowering the settings to medium and it still drops!

No new drivers means no optimisation for Fallout 4 and no crossfire profile so my second card is sitting doing nothing.

Just need to wait for AMD. Given their track record for driver releases it could be weeks...

The only time incorrectly is spelled incorrectly is when it is spelled incorrectly.
