nm76

Hello. Today i was heard in my case rattle noise coming from somewhere. I stop with my finger for 5 second my back fan of case. And rattling gone. So its the fan. But i have a question. Something can happen if i stop fan for 5 seconds with finger or i am just too much worried?

While i wouldn't suggest stopping a fan that wants to go, it shouldn't kill the fan. NOT RECOMMENDED but i think your worried to much.

It's most likely a loose screw of some sort. I would make sure all screws are secure in place. Also make sure it's not the hard drives.

Yes its the fan :) I am sure. I stopped with my finger and rattle gone. But can i damage something when i stop for 5 second with my finger fan of back of the case? Or nothing will happen :)?

I would check to make sure all the screws are good (check everywhere as the fan vibration might just be enough to move something else in the case) and that all your rubber grommets are in place. How is your cable management? maybe one of your heavier cables that has moved with time and is tapping against the metal case?

If you have a spare fan you could always just replace the fan if your sure its just the fan.

Its the fan, because i stopped it by my finger and rattle is gone. So its a fan issue. I can of course buy new fan to case? They cheap?

Nothing will most likely happen, It'll just spin back up again although if you did it a lot it would wear down.

Make sure the fan is screwed into the case securely. It make be a loose screw allowing it to move and vibrate on the screws.

By stopping the fan, there will be no vibrations so their will be no noise. vibrations may be causing the rattling.

Computer fans are bushless motors(Meaning there's a rotating magnet around a few coils), if they're not spinning at really high RPM, and you stop them gently it can't hurt them really. Large brushless motors is a different story. So don't worry about the fan too much. you should worry about the rickety sound tho ;) Replace it when it keeps coming back
