Going to be used for recording and rendering pc and console gameplay and media storage

Asus P8H77-i

16gb Corsair LP Ram

Corsair H80i or H60

Go with a Z77 and a K processor incase you want to overclock in the future. Also you will want a GPU and if you want the aver media still you will have to go MATX or you could go with the live portable. Are you going to be gaming on this build?

no gaming on this build i have a separate rig with sli 770's and a 4670k. Should have added that, using this build for streaming, storage and rendering. my fault for not explaining in detail will update the post after dinner.

Oh ok then why don't you use that for rendering and stuff, just buy a Avermedia HD and some more HDD in your current build?

i have no space for hard drives, its a watercooled define r4. and I have a few parts from another project(mobo, ram, case, and psu), I also like the sig rig :D

Why not Haswell?

The H60 is a terrible cooler. A hyper 212 Evo would be better.

What programs are you using to render edit? How heavy are your footage/projects?You should throw in a gpu for hardware acceleration.

Budget?

i already have the mobo case and ram. Not extremely heavy at all on average 1-2gb file size. budget isnt a big thing but most of it would be going toward storage to double up as nas or fileserver. Trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Using vegas but planing on moving to cs6

I'm assuming you're not gaming much at all considering the lack of a gpu. Get a 7770/7850 for opencl gpu acceleration.

As for the cpu, a xeon e3 1230 v2 would do. Something like a Scythe BIG shuriken would work nicely for the cooler since the xeon doesn't come with one.

A cx430 would fit the build nicely.

i have a separate rig with a 4670k and sli 770's  using this as a secondary rig for streaming recording editing and, mass storage, no space for storage in my main due to watercooling. using a secondary rig so i can essentially play and render videos at the same time
