Hi, Please could you explain what a single rail is and if this supply is good enough for a mini itx build with a i7 4790k and a r9 280. Thanks

"Rails" is just a way of saying electrical circuits that handle an amount of current flow at some voltage. What power supply are you referring to?

It's basically marketing BS. The Silverstone Strider Essential 500W is a low-end Sirtec-made unit, with a not particularly strong 12V rail. It can run your system, but I'd want something a little higher quality.

It's not the greatest quality power supply, but if the OP wants something that can run their system without destroying it, it's fine for that. http://www.legitreviews.com/silverstone-strider-essential-strider-plus-500w-power-supply-review_2254

@Redfern, are you on a tight budget?

That's a different model in the review. Anyway, as you can see it works, but has subpar component like Su'scon capacitors. I'd pay the extra pound for the Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze.

I definitely agree that the Seasonic unit is a much better choice. Jonny's review of it(though it looks different in the review) is pretty favorable: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=185

Yes for a powersupply I need a SFX form factor and I don't want to pay over £55 really. :D
