Hi guys, first post here.

Today I decided to give overclocking a shot, specifically for my GPU.

I downloaded GPU Tweak (2.8.3.0) from ASUS and upon installing it prompted that there was a newer version out. I clicked install now and after about a minute GPU Tweak crashed so I closed the programme, immediately after doing so my computer screen went black but the computer remained on (I could still hear friends on TS3).

I tried rebooting, still the same black screen.

I tried connecting my monitor to the motherboard instead of the GPU and still a black screen.

However, after removing my GPU and rebooting and the display did work, so it seems the GPU is the problem.

Currently I am using on board graphics to try and workout what the problem is and what steps I should take next?

Thanks.

Did you reinsert the GPU at all? Sometimes removing it and putting it back in sorts it out.

Sorry I forgot to mention, yes I did. Still the same problem!  :(

Hmm...don't suppose you have a spare GPU lying around, do you?

Do you know anyone who has a spare GPU you could use to check that something isn't borked?

From the sound of it, the problem is his gpu. Since his mobo on board graphics is working.

Best he can do is reset his gpu setting in the bios or plug it into someone else rig and see if it works.

The latter seems to be a better option, actually.

@jasperer, give your card to a friend and ask him to put it in his/her rig to check if it still works. If it does, then do as Shiwoon says. If it doesn't, then......oh dear.

I don't personally but can get someone else's, but the fact that it worked w/o the GPU connected shows that it is the problem.

I will, how do I reset my 'GPU' setting in the BIOS? Just looked and can't see an option for that.

I'm not entirely certain. It may be possible, but sometimes it can be a ballache to do.

Still reading the manual for your mobo, do me a quick favor and go into your bios then click on board explore, see if it's detecting your card.

Unlucky for you, this mobo bios don't have a gpu oc setting... best thing for you is to check the board explorer to see if it's detecting the card.

Another option would be putting it into another rig to see if it's working. Those are your only options I am afraid.

Just booted through on board graphics to access the bios and it appears to be detecting a card but is this specifically what I want to see? (see image)

Did you actually get to do any overclocking?

I can't see installing a program causing the GPU to fail unless you actually got to the overclocking part.

Also, taking the GPU out does not point to it being a GPU problem, it could still be a PSU issue.

It's not a race to the bottom.
