Honestly I don't think it's necessary to use separate SSDs for OS and apps/games.

In all honesty, I'd unify the OS and games/apps drive. Why have two when one will likely be sufficient, if not simply ideal?

In fact just use one of the 3.5'' drives for games, as games generally don't benefit from being run off SSDs, from what I've been able to tell.

Aha!  I didn't realize SSDs would have minimal impact on game speed--good to know.  In that case, would you suggest going with the m.2 850 over the normal one?

It's up to you, really.

You'll have fewer wires to contend with if you go M.2, but the trade-off is that it's not as quick and easy to remove in the event of something going wrong with the build.

From what I understand (could be wrong), the M.2 slotting allows for faster response times, so I'll go with that.

Everything else look okay as far as the cooling, case, monitor, etc.?

I can't really comment on the cooler, as I've never really had any experience with it.

Aside from that, I'd say it's a pretty solid build.

Do you plan to do overclocking at all? I mean, seeing as though you have an unlocked CPU there, you could probably do that if you get a beefier cooler.

I'm definitely open to it, assuming it wouldn't require a whole lot of additional cooling/fans.  The closed-system liquid coolers seem neat, but much more expensive.

It is quite a bit more expensive, but you could quite easily overclock on an air cooler. Have a look at some of Noctua's coolers; they're premium, but perform like it.
