ram speeds

Go to solution Solved by A Guy Eating Cereal,

is there a big performance difference in ram speeds?

When it comes to DDR4 tests have been done that shows you can gain 3 fps going from 2400Mhz to 3100MHz.

But DDR3 makes little if no difference at all!

Only if your using an AMD APU would faster RAM make a noticeable difference.

Intel also benefits from it, but not early as much

I think having DDR4 paired with Skylake, ram speeds actually increase FPS. I watched review of i3 6100 and different ram speeds and there seemed to be a difference.

But in DDR3, no definitely not.

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600, MOBO: MSI Tomahawk B450, RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000 (2x8 GB), GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming-X Trio, CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S, PSU: Corsair RM 650, HDD: WD Blue 1TB, SSD: Samsung 860 ECO 500GB, CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C

But that isn't definative as other reviews have shown basically no difference above slightly more than jedec speeds. (For haswell-e 2400 cl16 was the lowest speed ram with identical performance, for haswell I7 it was 1866 cas 9).
