980 Ti EVGA Superclocked furmark question

So in testing my 980 Ti superclocked I've found that with furmark it makes the core clock go down to the 946-961mhz range. Keep in mind this is a reference card. So is it nromal for a 980 Ti reference to down clock that much because of furmark? And yes I know furmark is way more demanding than games.

Dont run furmark for too long, its a core burner.

thats probably still too long to be running it id say try not to do more than 5-10 mins at a time

It did the same with my GTX 780, I'm not sure if its FurMark or the Kepler/Maxwell Architecture designed to not run full clocks during FurMark. Because with my GTX 480 (Fermi) it ran full clocks, I'm not sure on how my GTX (Tesla) 295 would run never tested it with FurMark.
