Hello, I may seem like a noob for asking this question, but i got my samsung ssd today and i wanted to know, if i had to use the migration thing it comes with? Also, is there anything else i need prior to installing, like a bay drive cage or something like that? I have this case, idk if it will work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133179

The migration tool is to allow you to clone the contents (OS, files, applications) of your current OS drive onto your SSD. Some people don't recommend it because if you're coming from a HDD as a OS drive, you probably have enough data to immediately fill up that SSD. Sometimes you might have even more data than the SSD can hold. Best bet is to do a clean install of Windows on the SSD and just plug back in the HDD as a storage drive.

Unplug the HDD from your computer when installing Windows onto the SSD so you don't accidentally format and install Windows on your HDD.

Linus has a great tutorial on SSD upgrades. The procedures are for Windows 7 but the steps for installing Windows haven't changed since Vista so you're fine.
