Is it normal to be getting 85-95 degrees with an h100i with a 4770K at 4.5Ghz. It takes 1.280V to be stable but why are the temps so high even with a cooler?

And I get this temps when running AIDA64 it doesn't blue screen it's just insanely high and I stop it because I don't want to damage by CPU and I've replaced the thermal paste and I see no difference. I used to grain of rice method for the middle barely used any just a drop.

Do I leave it at stock because I got a shitty CPU?

You have a hot chip but you should be fine if those are load temps. Nothing you normally do will get close to that.

Is that under load or idle? need a little more information.

I get 85-95 temps while under load (Aida64 Stress Test) and Even if I run cinabench the CPU goes straight up to 90 then goes back down, doesn't bluescreen though... and my ram is at 1333 so... do I leave it at stock?

Every overclocker video I've watch insists that you run a stress or you could do something that could make it bluescreen so I'm not sure if its entirely safe running at that clock

Just a not so good overclocker. Haswell is a bit like that really. All luck of the draw.

You can bump up your memory clocks closer to what it's rated for if you want.

Right now I run at stock with my memory at 2400 runs smooth, too bad I can't overclock : (

this dude got to 4.7 with 1.25 with the same mobo and cooler I have, what leads to the scaling on these processors to have such a difference in overclock potential...???

Another thing you could do it overclock the hell out of the CPU, and purchase the tuning plan. CPU dies and get a replacement. Hope for a better one LOL. Don't do this though, just crazy ideas in my head! :D

lmao I've heard of people who actually do that

you most likely have an average chip , capable of 4.4-4.6Hz, just like everyone else.

have you tried the OC guide at all?

ye I've tried that, average CPU try 'very below average" this thing needs 1.28V to be stable and generates ALOT OF HEAT if Assassin runs at 4.7 with 1.285 under PRIME95 with 78 as his max temp using the same cooler I got my CPU is straight from hell lmao the heat is unreaLLL at 4.5

Conclusion I'm just running at stock the temps are decent and I don't have to worry about stability

maybe because I bought haswell as soon as it was released maybe my CPU batch was faulty or something too bad :( kinda pointless getting a cooler

lol you cant base your results off other peoples. I bought a second chip and had the exact same results, from a totally different batch, my attempt was a fail, luck of the draw

I also struggled and fought the demon, my cure was popping the top off and replacing the stock tim with something a little better.

4.7Ghz @ 1.285V i wish brotha man .

truth is i can boot and benchmark 4.7GHz @ 1.285V but is no where close to stable when stress testing.

I seen a guy post this same instant in the ocdb. dont believe anything you see unless it is validated for 8 or more hours stable.

im currently stress testing 4.7GHz @ 1.41V...  with my ring bus @ 4600MHz. ambient are a sweet 20c...semi-custom loop on the delid

That's really great may I ask what parts you're using for your custom loop? And have you tried 4.8? I guess if your going to push 4.6 you have to delid or else your temps would be insane I don't see why intel's paste is so poor for K line of processors

swiftech h220 + xspc 120mm rad

corsair sp 120 performance edition

yes! i have tried for 4.8 with no luck in regards to real stability. i can boot and benchmark but im no where close to stable when stress testing  only if i drop my ring bus right down to the lowest value 800MHz, pulled one stable run for 8 hours at 4.8GHz @ 1.48V 800MHz ring bus

4.6GHz is a sweet spot with the overclock for me ( and most people) since it only requires 1.35V.

to gain 100-200MHz requires significant voltage increase, prolly not worth it

for me the voltage increase makes no sense for such a small gain @ 4.8GHz

Can't say much because I have never OCed a Haswell CPU, but you can delid your CPU and reapply the TIM like what ProKoN said cause the current TIM inside the CPU is simply crap.  Also I assume you are talking about your temps in Celsius, that just seems to high for to not blue screening. Also if you are getting 90 degree temps at load you should not have a problem really, that is at complete load nothing is going to push your CPU that much realistically, but like I said earlier I have never OCed a Haswell chip so my information could be quite wrong.
