Looking for a small, thin display

I know you can get an app on your phone or tablet that lets you use it as a wifi, USB, or Bluetooth display. It literally works as an additional display, and shows up in the display manager.

For iOS?

Darn. I do not know if there is one for iOS. I used one on my phone, and I was able to make a DIY oculus rift. Actually, here are some iOS options: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-use-your-ipad-or-iphone-as-a-second-monitor-ios/
