Hey guys, I'm getting ready to build a new PC. If I take the SSD and hard drive (boot drive and storage) from my current system and connect them to the new system, will I have any problems with the license? I really want to try to avoid having to reinstall my OS and all my programs. Thanks for your help!

Windows checks the motherboard so NORMALLY you would have problems. However, I have heard that Windows 7 no longer checks for genuine versions which means you should be fine.

EDIT: Just some more information, I would assume you can then upgrade your new computer to Windows 10 as long as you keep your old computer at 7.

I don't believe you should have much of an issue. But I suggest reformatting and reinstalling windows when upgrading to a new system as all the drivers will be different.

Oh yeah I didn't even think about all the drivers. The problem is that since I have a hard drive for storage, when I reinstall Windows, all of the programs on the storage drive are not really recognized. I tried this before and eventually had to do an image restore. Is there any way that I can clean my boot drive from all the irrelevant drivers and things?

Hmm the only way would be just to uninstall them from windows. Then install the new ones..
