My Lazy OC

Hey guys, I put a H100i on my FX6300 and my CPU was at 7°c at idle. This was far to cool for my liking, so because I'm upgrading to Intel soon I thought lets try a OC. since I'm going to want to overclock my i5 4690k. This is my first time ever overclocking so I didn't want to aim too high with my CPU so I have gone with a OC of 4.1ghz. 

 

Bios settings:

CPU unlock - disabled

C1E state - disabled

Core 6 state - disabled

Cool 'n' quiet - disabled

Turbo boost - disabled

HPC - enabled

APM - enabled

SVM - enabled

 

 

 

4.1Ghz

FSB - 200mhz

Multiplier - 20.5X

Voltage - 1.300v

LLC - Medium

 

 

 

This was only a 12.5 hour stress test but I will be doing another one tonight just to be sure, but so far it is looking good

 

Not sure if I have gotten all the info in my picture if I have missed anything just let me know and I'll try and post it.

 

Also if this does pass a 24H test I will either pump up Clock speed or start dropping the voltage. It will be more likely voltage that I will drop because I don't really need a higher clock speed with my 270x.

Seems fine, but the CPU probably has way more in it. Personally if you're looking to replace it I'd try max it out but that's just me

 

Just so you know (and pretty much everyone else in this thread it seems); AMD FX CPUs don't actually have temp sensors inside the CPU, the temperature is calculated on the northbridge based on power conditions- so it's inaccurate while idle but reasonably accurate at load. So the 7c reading you got was false.

if your pc is outside and you're living in a cold place then I can understand the 7degree otherwise this isn't the right temp

Yeah it was corsair link that said 7°c but should of a said it was also early morning freezing cold outside and my window was open all night lol

That can't be right.

By the way AMD CPU's are only really hot with a stock cooler and the same goes for the GPU's.  Reference AMD coolers are awful but this isn't a reference cooler here.  Now 7 C is a little far fetched but he is using an after market.  And 7 may not be possible on an Intel either, look it up, AMD's being super hot is a thing 15 year old's say to be super smart is mostly an "Internet Fact" rather than actual fact.  Now do they run hot?  Yes, they do, so does intel, but not to the extent that people exaggerate them to.
