Windows 2012 Server

Go to solution Solved by Mr.Tech.Qc,

I got the os (Legit) for free from a friend. Plan on a quad core with 32GB of Ram. Should Handle nicely.

I got the os (Legit) for free from a friend.Only paid for a motherboard really. Just a fun project.

ok, 1st of all, you are damn lucky to have the os legit, its expensive as hell,

2, mkae an image, mess around, install software, and you will find something to do with it for sure! search: homer server tour / home datacenter tour on youtube, there is really cool stuff out there

once you will find something cool, re-install the clean os and configure what ever you want ^^

thats what i would do

Please list some Win 2012 Server uses besides the common one. I want to know what you use yours for.

i use it for mc, csgo , ftp servers, vitual machines with vitual box and file sharing, you can do all of that on windowes, but Win serv gives you more security, relyability, and is more stable

EDIT: oh and you get more stuff like NIC teaming and server managing

I have never messed with a server before. What are some Basic thing that would cool to do on it. The only thing I have planned is to back up all the windows pc to it.

you will see win serv interface, looks like win 8 ,but with less crap, start by installing it, sharing a few folders and printers, and mess around,

you will see, in the server or even it world in general, you dont create something to find something to do with it, you create a server to accomplish a certain need, dont waste your time  and money on something you might not need at the end of the day

This webpage will tell you all you want to know. May I say that it seems like a linux server would be better for you as windows will require more resources.

I have a Dell Poweredge server with Windows server 2008 R2 for Minecraft , websites, mail, emby, and with my 1gbps connection I use it to be a live remote storage for my desktop. With Windows 10 on my desktop and laptop I have it set up so that all my downloads/documents/programs are stored on a 12TB raid for my use.
