Hey Guys,

A friend has a problem with his computer. He was out at lunch, when he came back his computer was off. He had left it on before leaving. It wont recognize his SSD but recognizes his hard drive, Ive switched sata cables, ports, and power cables. Only will recognize his hard drive. Any other thoughts or was his SSD just a bad one? His computers only about 2 months old.

Can you hook his SSD into your computer?

That way you shoud be able to check if it works.

It crossed my mind, but after switching sata ports and cables i didnt think it would change. Ill try though. Thanks!

No worries.

If it doesn't work, check the connectors on the SSD itself to see if there is any damage on them.

i plugged it back into my computer. No longer recognizes it. Not in the bios or windows. Dead drive? anyone know why an SSD would die after 2 months?

Probably just a bad drive.

It may be possible to salvage stuff off of it, but I'm not certain. If it's within warranty, he should be able to RMA it.
