Benchmark Programs

It has been about 15 years since I have built a computer but I used to be pretty heavy into it.  My last build was a dual Pentium 3 on a mobo with two sockets (remember those?) that was watercooled.  A friend of mine actually drilled channels into copper blocks added hoses, a fan, a radiator and a small tupperware of coolant.  I can't even remember what the benchmark program I used to use was and I would like to benchmark my current HP and then my new gaming rig that I am going to build.  What are the most popular and widely used programs for benchmarking?  Thanks for helping out a returning enthusiast.
