This is my first build and I am really nervous to actually test boot the system. I'm still not 100% sure that I've got the wiring all perfect. Any tips?

My Psu came with 2 pcie cords that have a 6 pin with an extra 2. Is it okay to plug the 6+2 into the 8 pin gpu outlet?

Do I plug my hdmi into the graphics card or motherboard when turning it on first? And my case has 3 extra cords that each have 3 pins, are those plug ins for drives if I where to get them?

Also can someone explain what this is? ( last picture with one cord) it is part of the case

Thanks for helping out a complete noob

Yes. The 6+2 is fine for an 8 pin gpu.

HDMI goes into dedicated GPU.

That last connection is a Sata power, it's likely for a fan controller so connect it up to a Sata from your PSU.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

I haven't connected the PCIe cables to the motherboard but the gigabyte gtx970 has 2 power adapters one is a 8 and othe other a 6. So I am currently using both my PCIe power cables on my gpu. The PCIE cables have a 6pin with a 2 pin hanging next to it

Don't put the PCIe power connectors for the MOBO's auxiliary power either.

The picture with the cluster of female connectors are for fans, either PWM or three pin.

Any plugging or unplugging of wires should be done with the PC shut off

I hope you remembered to remove the static electricity from yourself before and during your build.

Remember to put your monitor on before you power up the PC so you will see any issues or won't think damnit it isn't working when you don't see a picture on the screen(has happened to me in the past) :D

Nice cable management in the back typical in the inside!

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Thanks for the tips! I've been really cautious about static, touching something grounded every couple minutes. So hopefully I'm good
