Best part is I almost got a 4790K from Walmart LOL.

OP, for a new build you're better off going Skylake. Not a huge performance difference but if you shop smart the price difference is almost nothing.

walmart does have everything :)

 

if your budget allows there's nothing wrong with going with the latest architecture

Linus already posted a video on this. Skylake will give you slightly better gaming performance (better single-core performance). Haswell-E will give you considerably better video editing / creative apps (think Adobe CC) performance (more cores, better full-CPU performance). FWIW, you can get an i7-5820k for $300 from Microcenter if you pick it up in-store.
