Hey I use Time Warner Cable internet in the United States so naturally my internet is overpriced and absolute shit. I was looking into ways to make it at least somewhat better, and I saw that changing your DNS can help. What are good DNSes in the United States? I live in upstate New York. Thanks guys! Any other tips to improve internet would be nice. I have 15down/1up and sometimes in Skype calls the quality just drops to garbage for a few seconds

Fastest way is to run your own local DNS caching server.

Is doing this difficult? Are there any good tutorials?

Usually the ISP's DNS Server is your best option, since in theory, it should have the lowest latency.

With that in mind, some ISP's have better - or worse - DNS servers. You might consider using Google DNS, as listed above. You could use it as a backup DNS Server, or even as the primary.

I personally use my ISP's DNS Servers, with Google DNS as a backup, because they actually have really solid DNS Servers (TekSavvy - Ontario, Canada).
