If a bacteria undergoes mitosis every 24 hours, then that means 1 cell after a day is 2 cells. So basically it doubles every day.

I need a formula that will calculate the number of bacteria( b ), after d(days)

Thanks, I just woke up and my brian doesnt function correctly

Isn't that just 2^n where n is number of days?

Bacteria multiply by binary fission. Since mitosis deals with the division of organelles and chromosomes within the cell in addition to the cell itself, it only applies to eukaryotes. Sorry to nit-pick, but that's just asking to be a multiple choice question on an exam for you someday.

But yeah, post #2 for the answer.
