Recently I just got $400 for my b-day and I was looking to spend it on 2 monitors, around $200 per monitor.  I was looking at the Asus MX239H (IPS) and Asus VS248H (2ms). I don't know if I should get an IPS display or like a 1 or 2 ms response time monitor.  I game but not overkill gaming so I don't need a 1ms 144hz monitor. If you can recomened one or a few monitors and if you would rather have an IPS 5ms response time or a LED 2ms response time monitor. Thanks!

You can't tell the difference between 2ms and 5ms response time so the ips will likely be better as picture quality matters a lot.

Response time is meaningless for the most part. It's often completely misunderstood for what it actually is, as well as there being no standard for measuring it. The viewing angles and colours of IPS win every time for me.

I would get the ips over the response time. I too was worried about it when i was upgrading from a 1080p 144hz monitor to a 1440p 60hz monitor, but the 6ms on the 1440p monitor seems the same as the 1ms on the 1080p monitor, so unless you are more perceptive than me, going for the better colors would be the better option.

I just watched a review on the monitor and the guy said he saw "ghosting" which I saw too. I don't know if I'll notice that when i'm gaming.

im noticing ghosting on my 21:9 ips panel too. but its not really a problem for me. its far less noticable like when games have motion blur enabled. there are ips panels that dont have this, perhaps its just a problem with some ips panels. the freesync lg 21:9 doesnt have ghosting if you believe the reviews.

with 400 bucks i would for for a lg 29um55-p or the freesync enabled 29um67-p and the cheapest 22" 1080p monitor you can find. i have a similar setup and its really great i cant get enough of the 21:9 ips combination especially in games. and the secound monitor is good for background stuff like netflix or youtube while gaming

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.
