I recently bought and installed a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Everything was running amazingly well until I downloaded Samsung Magician to optimize the SSD. My system will now longer shut down and there is no way to reverse the optimization. Also, for whatever reason System Restore was turned off so I don't have anything to go back to. I contacted Samsung and they told me to just do a secure erase which I really don't want to do. I asked them if I had any other options and they were just not interested.  When I power down my system the message comes up for my system shutting down then my monitors go to sleep, but all the fans and HDD's are still running. Now the only option I have is to hold down the power button which I fear is doing damage to my system. I'm running Windows 10 (64-bit). Is there anything I can try to fix this issue or will I have to do a secure erase? What about resetting Windows to factory settings and keeping my data?

Thanks!

do you turn it off (shutdown) or click on sleep ?

do you wait a couple seconds for the fans to perhaps stop ?
