Hello, I've had my computer for around a year now and I have always been wondering why my fans that I had bought are running really noisily. I have the Corsair AF120 Quiet edition fans yet They don't seem to be quiet at all. One of the fans has been directly plugged into the motherboard whereas the other Is attached to an adaptor coming off a Molex cable. I know the sound is coming from the two fans because when I open my case and stop them with my finger the computer runs as quiet as a feather.

Even though sound does not bother me too much I would still like to find a way to make them much more quieter.

Many thanks.

What is the noise they are making? like are they ramping up really loud as in running fast or making a noise like they are rubbing or hitting something?

It sounds like the fans are running at 100% power all the time. Usually you can control the one hooked to the motherboard in the BIOS. The one connected to molex will run at 100% all the time unless you have an adapter.

That's all you need to know. It's a beast.

No offense but that's not the point, I don't want to buy more fans if the fans I originally bought said that they are quiet when they clearly aren't. Instead I would like some advice on how to make it quieter

make them so it connected to the mobo and not the psu, psu's are forced to run at 100%

One of my fans are already connected to the motherboard but is still making nearly the same amount of noise as does the one plugged into my Psu

Change the fan profiles.....

Check in the BIOS and see if there's an option to change the fan speed/curve.

Or

Depending on what motherboard you have, there might be software to help you.

Could I have a link to a video which shows me how I can do this in the BIOS?

Do a quick search on Youtube with "How to change fan speed X motherboard"

It is different for every motherboard, and I don't know which brand you have.

You shouldnt have a problem changing them in the BIOS. Its actually pretty straight forward. if you have issues, just google "Your MOBO" + changing fan curves BIOs. It should come up with results and step by steps!
