Hey guys, I've been planning on building my first gaming PC, i'm still looking for parts (and tbh still don't understand most of the parts names, do they mean something or not, and so on) and i'm not sure if i've made a mistake here or not while picking the parts on the build, using pcpartpicker. The reason why I came here to ask about this is because i've been watching alot of linus' videos lately along with a few other youtubers and random videos about pcs, and i've heard alot of positive stuff about this forum.

Anyways, here's the link to the build, I haven't yet decided which fans to put on the list, the OS will be (most likely) a well-cracked W7 and there to upgrade to W10, and i left a ssd from the list since it's easier to buy the ssd later than a better graphics card later. I also don't have any idea if I need a sound card, a fan controller and whatever else does pcpartpicker show you. I'm open for suggestions.

uk pcpartpicker

I live in finland, and the budget is around 600€, and the PC would be used for mainly gaming.

Firstly, Welcome to the Forums ^^

Just so everyone can give a bit better advice, what do you plan on using the build for (I assume gaming?) and what kind of budget are you looking at?

Thanks :D Mainly playing games from the most boring games to the newest titles, and the budget is around 600€, which is about 450£.

No need for peripherals, I live in Finland and the rest is up ^ (the budget doesn't include shipping)

:P More expensive but better GPU and PSU.

I'll consider that :D

So a guy from se7ensins suggested this, my build, but a xfx R9 390 as graphics card, and if I want a lower price, then xfx r9 380, and a 500w powersupply, even though its way over my budget, ill consider it. what do you guys think? :P

EDIT: removed link since it was a wrong link i put here...

So, I've thought about that I could save up till the end of this school year, and just focus on studying for this last year of primary school. Maybe on the summer holidays i'll build up the PC, and i've picked the parts here and i have no idea if i have done a good job during the boring it class or not. please do tell.

Looks nice. However, you should probably pay the extra bucks for a z97 mobo instead of an h97. H97 doesn't offer many over clocking capabilities, and since you are already getting a decent cooler and an unlocked chip you should get a z97. If you don't have the extra bucks to spend you could step a bit down with your case to something like the master case 5. Also, consider a semi modular o modular psu. It helps a lot with organization. Otherwise looks great!

Also consider a higher psu like 600 watts. 500 is really cutting it close, especially as over locking will require more power, and sometimes Gpus use more power than they are rated for when under load. If you want upgrade headroom even consider a 700 or 750 watt just to be safe. Up to you though :)

What difference does it make if I pick a non-, semi-, or a full-modular psu? i've understood that with non-modular you cant detach the wiring, and with fully modular you can detach all wiring, and with semi, you can detach some of it, why does it matter if i can or cant detach the wiring?

and what do the certifications mean?

Mostly it's for organization :) That's mostly it. It really helps though also the extra wires can mess up airflow.

Yeah but with a non-modular psu you can't change the length of the wires, how they look and so on (like it matters anyway), but if it's too long, it just uses space that could be used otherwise. With a semi- or fully-modular psu you can decide the length of the wires. Atleast kind of. But thanks!
