I know everyone complains about browsers eating up a lot of RAM; but hey, if you've got it, why not let it have more? I notice FF maxes out at about 1.5 gigs of RAM for me. Does anyone know if there's a way to let it have more?

Thanks guys

You can always get Waterfox at https://www.waterfoxproject.org/ (its a 64bit version of firefox)

@bloader Firefox is already 64Bit.

to answer @illBelief 's question, what you have to do is go into your search bar, and type

about:config

after that, then search:

browser.cache.memory.max_entry_size

in the search bar. After than, remember it is in MB, so remember to multiply the amount of RAM (in GB) by 1024.

That allow Firefox to access more RAM.

Alternatively, go can create a RAM-Disk and move ALL of your cache to said RAM Disk. (Here are the instructions):

I never notice my web browsers using much RAM at all (I haven't really noticed anything higher than 2GB). At the moment I have about an average load on both Firefox (~1.5GB) and Chrome (~1.9GB), tabs if you were wondering, Firefox also has about another dozen reddit tabs off-screen. From the way everyone plays up Chrome's RAM appetite it seems rather tame to me, maybe I don't have enough flash websites open...

Thanks guys. I ask cause when it starts going over around 1.5 FF just crashes instead of just taking more RAM.

@[member=MagnesiumPC] I'll try your suggestion out. I changed the memory.max_entry_size value from 5120 to 10240 just to try it out.

Wish me luck!

@bloader Firefox is already 64Bit.

The Stable release isn't 64bit yet. Stable 42 will have a 64bit option from the ftp but not the official website.

Because if you're going to consider what happens outside of Stable, then Firefox is already 64-bit and multiprocess.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.
