Ahh, good idea. I Just grabbed some tape and this is definitely better. It does make me sad though that I paid for these thin bezels and don't really get to experience them
-
Just bought a second Predator XB1 and realized when I was setting it up, because of the bezel design, the screens don't sit flush together (see picture) at an angle for surround. I'm thinking I might have to bust out my dremel and shave off the corners a little but that seems a bit... invasive. Anyone have any better ideas?

Bought an old Xeon workstation for $500. Steal or Ripoff?
illBelief replied to illBelief's topic in New Builds and Planning
Phew, thanks for the validation guys. I checked some listings on ebay for the same quadro and it's going for about 200. I'll start there and see if anyone's interested. -
So I bought an old Xeon from NCIX today for 500 bucks (Canadian). I intend to use it for light gaming (league of legends, hearthstone, Overwatch, CS:GO) and general home use. Now I know Xeon's aren't the best for gaming, but for $500, what do you guys think? Full Specs: Intel Xeon E5-1620 3.6Ghz 10M Cache (unknown brand 80mm tower heat sink, might be the one that came with the system, not sure) Nvidia Quadro K2000 2GB GDDR5 4 Gb DDR3 ECC memory 1 Tb WD Blue HDD (with windows 7 pre installed) 600W 80+ Gold PSU (I dont know the brand, it just says "Bell" on it but I don't think Bell makes PSUs...) Quad channel, 4 x PCI-E 2.0, lenovo mobo (I dont know much else about it) Generic Lenovo workstation case with CD reader/writer and multiple SD card slots I'm thinking of selling the quadro (should go for 150) for a modern gaming GPU and upgrading the ram of course. Might look for a new PSU too if budget permits less than 750 overall. What do you guys think? Edits: Typos

Thanks guys. I ask cause when it starts going over around 1.5 FF just crashes instead of just taking more RAM. @[member=MagnesiumPC] I'll try your suggestion out. I changed the memory.max_entry_size value from 5120 to 10240 just to try it out. Wish me luck!

I know everyone complains about browsers eating up a lot of RAM; but hey, if you've got it, why not let it have more? I notice FF maxes out at about 1.5 gigs of RAM for me. Does anyone know if there's a way to let it have more? Thanks guys!

To clarify, instant screen off on signal loss, just like a monitor

Hey all, Is it just me or do all TV's not turn the screen off when in standby mode? We have 3 TV's in our house, a Sony Bravia, an LG and a Phillips (all from about 3-5 ago) and non of them will turn the screen off when in stand by. For example, I have my pc hooked up via HDMI to the LG and when I put my pc to sleep, my monitor's display will turn off even though the monitor is still on. The TV on the other hand will start flashing a screen that says "no input" or something along those lines. Does anyone own a TV that will actually turn the screen off as well when there are no inputs? Thanks for your input!

Do you experience any drops in FPS when using OBS or other softwares?
-
Hey guys, this is probably a really noob question but I was wondering what some good ways are to capture gameplay just for myself, not necessarily streaming. I started doing a bit of research but most of the solutions I found were software based and I feel as though that would affect my actual game play. I know capture cards exist and Nvidia has some of their own solutions but I’m on an AMD rig right now so I’m not sure where to go. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks!

Hey guys, anyone know where you can get replacement mouse feet in Toronto? Specifically for a logitech G700. I tired looking online but all the retailers only ship to the US. Let me know if anyone has any ideas! Thanks

Thanks everyone, i returned them =)

Definitely looking to SLI. 780ti's are going out of stock so I'm guessing these were on clearance price. Also looking to custom watercool in the future (mid 2016ish)

Hey guys, I posted a couple days ago over whether or not to get a discounted 780ti. Well... I ended up getting 2 of them for 550 CAD each (before tax and what not). Now I'm looking around and I see the 970 is quite a bit cheaper but with marginal performance differences (stock). I've seen all the benchmarks, 780ti OC beats 970 OC but has a lot more power consumption. Now, I need to build a new pc before sept 2015 (little brother is inheriting my current one). Should I return the 780ti's and wait it out for 970 (or even 980) price drops? I'm not expecting an answer, just some healthy discussion =) Thanks!

Think a 970 would be a better option then?
