upgrade help

I currently have a  ASUS VS248H-P 24" i am looking to upgrade but i dont know if a i should or what i should get im looking for something higher then 1080 24" for under $400 ips preferable i do a lot of editing for work and gaming for pleasure 

I have a 

I7 4790k 

16gb of ram 

geforce 980

You might get a 1440p IPS for less than $400, but I'm not entirely sure.

For $400 get a 1440p 27 inch IPS 60Hz
