Why not air? We've been doing just fine with it for just shy of forever.

because its in a bitfenix prodigy and i already tried it with a xigmatek darknight 2 and the backplate was interfering on my p8h77i motherboard and i know an h100i will work because of the backplate and watercooling is overall better and quieter thats why i asked

Not much you can do unless you go for a custom loop.

Most AIOs have issues. (The H220 you mentioned has a major flaw with it's pump/reservoir).

I would take the H100i. Maybe you will be lucky this time around. If the LED fails; why would that worry you. Other AIOs don't even have LEDs. No need to RMA it just for a glitch unless you are reaching the end of your warranty or it really bothers you. If you have been updating your firmware on the H100i that could explain your LED issues. Don't upgrade it if you don't have to.

Since you're probably not overclocking, why not go with the H80i?  I have the same case and same motherboard with an h80I and it works flawlessly.

The H100 is overpriced in my opinion. Only reason to buy one over an air cooler is for aesthetics. Better off buying a nice Noctua cooler for half the price.

as i said before i use a mini itx motherboard with mosfets on the back the backplate for most air coolers will not work and the cpu socket is to close to pci lane making it interfere with ram

Noctua has a low profile cooler that should work.

One of these might work, if you want air cooling:

The heatsinks on these should fit if you point the main part of the heatsink away from the graphics card.  Not 100% sure, but it looks like it'll fit.
