Hey all! So I plan on doing some upgrades to my pc as I do each year. I find doing a little here and there helps keep my PC up to date and working. I usually only spend $500 or so on upgrades. I am thinking of swapping out my Corsair cx750m, r9 380, new monitor, and maybe a new case. My 200r gets super dusty since lack of filters and more cats than a 20 year old male should need to worry about!

yeah definitely psu should be first then with a $500 budget its kinda tough to recommend another upgrade.. 390 isnt that much of an improvement over a 380 to warrant the 300 bucks, i would save up till you can do a more suitable upgrade like a 980 ti

another upgrade could be your cooling, go to a better tower like a nh d15 or a good aio like the kraken x61

PSU: XFX XTR 750W

GPU: What @Coombzy said

Case: S340

I wanted the s340 for my upgrade last year but ended up not being able to get it. So that is for sure. PSU both sound good. And GPU wise why such a high end card? Would an r9 390 or gtx 980 be enough?

The 390x compares to a 980, the 390 compares to the 970. And in both cases, AMD's offerings are better.

How about a free sync monitor for my r9 380? I mean $270 for a 144hz with freesync range of 30-144hz would be nice. I play a ton of CSGO and league so I've been considering a high refresh rate.

I don't think you need to upgrade that 380 yet actually.

you only need a high refresh rate like that if youre hitting that kind of fps... if you are then yes it would be a good upgrade

In league and csgo I am no problem. But the freesync I heard is really nice around 45fps-60fps which I can drive on most games. :D

I think this is the path I shall take! It is just a little over budget so not to worried about that. X31 should be plenty. The hard drive is because I am using 2 seprate mechanical drives and want to consolidate my data. Plus its more space than I have now. I put an SSD in last year so no need for a new one. I have an i5-3570k OC to 4.1Ghz. I may do a cpu upgrade next year once I see what Zen is like and hopefully by then Skylake/DDR4 ram will have come down a bit in price. And if any games come out that my R9 380 has an issue running I could upgrade then but everything else is solid. :D
