Live USB that saves changes?

babadoctor
Go to solution Solved by Zygard,

I made a Kali Boot USB last week. There was 2 options.

-Live Mode: Does not save any data.

-Persistent Mode: Boots just like Live Mode and saves all changes made to the drive.

-Hope this helps!

For some reason my live USB with kali linux on it wont save the data that i put onto it! I dont want to use a VM because the whole point of using a usb was for the hardrive to shut off so i could use my laptop in the car (its a HDD :P) My laptop is a macbook pro 13 inch 2011 with os x 10.9.5 on it. I really do like kali! The design is really nice... Its gnome...

Anyone know a way i could fix this?

also its SOOOOOOOO much faster to just use a usb..

i dont know why but its either my HDD is shit or this USB is really really fast

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

I think I know what your issue is. Are you running in Live Mode or Persistent Mode?

If you are booting from a live USB to save your HDD, you should probably just save up for an SSD since they are so much cheaper now + it will really improve your performance.

Main PC: i5 4590 @ 3.5 GHz ♦ RX 480 Armor OC ♦ 16 GB DDR3 ♦ GA-Z97-HD3 ♦ 120 GB 840 EVO ♦ 120 GB Intel 520 ♦ W10 Home

Scrapyard PC: Xeon X5460 @ 3.8 GHz ♦ HD 7870 ♦ 8 GB DDR2 ♦ GA-P35-DS3L ♦ 80 GB Intel 320 ♦ 160 GB WD Caviar SE ♦ W10 Home

You can use any SSD that works with Windows with your Mac...just format it to HFS+
