GTX950 and OC it to match/outperform the 960

it can't match a 960 your out of your mind it can get pretty close though until you overclock the 960

i'm not out of my mind, an OC GTX950 can get the same performance or outperform a stock GTX960.

It's not guaranteed, though, and the gap is pretty big.

An EVGA SSC isnt a stock 960.

Im just comparing this to a reference 960 with stock core/mem.

But yea, in order to match the stock 960, the 950 will have to be OC to its full potential

Could be. But it's still silicon lottery. Even Maxwell has chips that just can't OC

first of all that is in 1440p and everybody knows that once you get higher than 1080p then the cpu has more of an effect on the fps second that is an older title. A more accurate benchmark would be something like BF4/hard line or gta v at 1080p. third that 960 has 2gb. 2gb isn't enough for any card at 1440p especially with 4x MSAA on. fourth the first highlighted fps number for the 950 isn't stock ether.

Be sure to check prices on the R9 285, if it's within budget, I'd go for that.

sadly the r9 285 is a little bit to far out of my price range.

i know you guys are going to cringe at this but that doesn't make to much of a difference to me anyway because my monitor is 1366x768.

Nothing to cringe at, you'll get more out of a lower end card like the 270X or 950 - get whichever is cheaper and call it a day.

well. for that resolution even a 750ti will run every title on maxed out settings.

Not every ;)

it will perform worse, however, and even at 768p it won't really yield high settings in games.

well.. most at least ^^

but depending on whether you want to get a bigger monitor sooner or later, a 950 or better would be the wiser decision.

Pre 2014-sure. But newer ones even at lower res it's not going to max sadly, else I'd be running one :D
