HDD has two partitions named C and D. win 8.1 is C partition. If I do a reset windows will delete files from both partitions or just C? I need some files to save, but I want to know if I can move them to D partition and after reset access them or should I go with external media or cloud (pain in the ass, because it's more than 50GB). Anyone knows the answer?

load up "disk cleanup" on your pc, then hit "clean up system files"

here you will be able to delete the old windows install files

  1. The PC boots into Windows RE, the Windows Recovery Environment

Windows RE erases and formats the Windows partitions before installing a fresh copy of Windows 8 or 10.

The PC restarts into the new copy of Windows.

I'd back it up if unsure, but this suggests that it gets deleted anyway as it mentions partitions
