Canon T5i DEAD! HELP!

Go to solution Solved by IndaLight,

Well you have to change it back from the viewfinder.

I'd check if it turns on and you can see through the viewfinder before thinking it's dead.

Put the batteries in, turn it on and hit the button on the right side of the viewfinder.

I put the battery grip back it and turned it on and off (the battery grip). It suddenly worked. Before I was getting no power to the camera at all, it seemed dead (the view finder wouldn't work).

I just bought a Mini HDMI to HDMI so I can use a monitor but I plug it in and played around. The I swtitched off the stabilizer and the camera died (Like it won't work the batteries are charged I checked with all 3). I can't turn it on at all, I even tried poping open the sd slot to see if the red light blinks and nothing. Please help.

Canon T5i has an optical viewfinder, not an EVF.  So what you need to do is turn off live view.  If that doesn't work, turn the camera off and take out the battery, reinsert the battery and turn it back on again.  Live view does not turn on by default when switching on the camera.

Attaching an external monitor to your camera should not kill the camera in anyway.

  • 3 years later...

may have an alternative to your problems, so i woke up this morning and amazing sunrise outback i grab my camera and it will not turn on, i quickly jump to the forums and did not like what i was reading so i messed with the camera some more, come to find oud if you have broken your safety latch on your memory card slot it will protect your camera from turning on as a safety feature i would guess...so just get a new memory card door or shimmy something in there for now if this is the case with your camera. thanks, everyone and have a great one.
