I have an NZXT H440 and it has a basement-like area for the PSU. The point of my build was to look really cool, and not really focus on performance. (I'm a very casual gamer, most intensive game is TF2.... Lol) I have an I3, and want support for most single graphics cards. (i5 is on the upgrade path...)  Im wondering if there is any reason to go modular if I have a basement to shove cables in. Depending on the answer to that question, what's the cheapest PSU I could get for that? Thanks for the Help!

Fully Modular power supplies can be convenient if the unit "decides" to die on you. Instead of messing with your cable management, you can simply disconnect the cables from the unit and send that in. Once you receive the replacement, you just reconnect the cables. Additionally, it's easier to plug things in because you don't have cables getting in your way and getting entangled.

Modular PSUs are usually more expensive, Non-Modular PSUs are ususally cheaper. If you don't mind the cables and want to save a little money, then a Non-Modular unit is fine.

Also, if you're prone to losing spare parts like me, then a Non-Modular PSU is good to have.

Now that I think about it, that's going to really affect my choice, thanks for the insite.

well do you want good cable management or just random cabled you dont use in your case

Can't I manage the cables will regardless of modular or not? I plan on stuffing all the extra ones in the basement, out of site.

I lose everything...... Hmm...... This is actually a more interesting choice then I thought it would be....

Well it's nothing too serious, but it is convenient to open up the basement and just pull out an unused cable instead of searching through a crateful of parts. But after working in a tiny case, Modular PSUs are an absolute godsend.

One more thing to note, if you have a very large case then you might have to use extensions to get to certain ports. If neatness is what you desire, then a Modular PSU will allow you to use an aftermarket cable that's longer than normal.

I went fully modular for the sole reason of cable management, I don't have to have useless cables in my case and with modular there's always the option to buy sleeved cables just for looks. If you've got the money go for a modular psu, you won't regret it!

However, you could also buy cable extensions if you don't mind the extra length.
