Mismatched Memory Kits?

Hey all, just got a sweet deal at my local PC shop but not sure if I should pull the trigger on it.

Currently I have a Dual Channel Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) 1688MHz in slots 2 and 4 of my mobo. Will a Dual Channel HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) 1688MHz work in slots 1 and 3? Because I've heard horror stories of mismatched sticks so you guys will help decide if I win or lose 50 bucks.

in the wild west days of ddr2 yes, this was a concern. today? id say you have a 1:10000 chsnce of it not working at all. mismatching capacity and speeds "can" increass that

My 16GB kit is CL10 and so it the 8GB kit. But 50 bucks brand new sounds like a really good deal for me. I bought my 16GB kit at 209 bucks irc.

The store in question is apparently trying to clear their stuff before closing down. Original retail for them was 79 bucks.
