I have had my current machine for around 2 years and it has done me justice so far.

(Please keep in mind I was on a very, very, very limted budget when I built this machine.)

Case: NZXT M59

RAM: 4gb Corsair Ripjaws

CPU: Intel Pentium G2120 (LGA1155)

Motherboard: ASRock H77

Graphics Card: HIS iCooler Radeon HD 7750

Power Supply: Corsair CX-430M

OS: Windows 7 Professional x32

Hard Drives: -Western Digital (9883 power-on hours) & Seagate Barracuda (712 power-on hours)

My main question is; would it be logical to upgrade CPU sockets to something newer, more managebale, and decently cheap. And if yes, what CPU/socket do you reccomend? Also, any good (and reasonably priced) graphics cards that you could reccomend would be nice aswell.

I know my other components are not the best, but I don't do THAT heavy of gaming. Just the basic FPS and simulator games.

Get a used z87 board (lga 1150), another 4gb of ram, replace that WD drive (9883 powered on hours?!? the real question is how it hasn't blown up yet), and get a g3258. Overclock that shit to a nice 4.2ghz or more and go ham.

I have a Seagate 500GB with 13K power on hours... they don't blow up its down to luck.

If it was me, I'd go for a nice radeon 270 and replace the platters with SSDs (probably the largest performance upgrade for the $$$ you spend.) From the verylimited charts I could find, your CPU is roughly equivalent to the "i3" line. I am sure the pentium is an i3 that had something disabled or less cache. but the article I saw showed that quad cores don't gain you much speed in gaming. This makes sense as gaming doesn't scale as well to more threads, like photoshop or rendering.

Yeah and that WD drive is my boot-up drive. I am honestly surprised how long it has lasted. It has ran Windows XP, Vista, 7 (several times), 8, and 10TP.
